Recognition of prior learning

The recognition of prior learning consists of two distinct programs:

VALIDATION OF PRIOR LEARNING (VPL)

This involves obtaining a professional certification (diploma, professional title, or certificate of professional qualification) by highlighting your professional experience.
You do not take any classes, but instead prepare a Livret II outlining the skills you have acquired through your experience.

Example: Claire has five years of professional experience as a department manager; she can apply to earn a Professional Bachelor’s Degree in Department Management and Administration through the VAE process.

VALIDATION OF PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL EXPERIENCE ( VAPP)

A program that allows students to enroll in a university program without having the required qualifications.

Example: A person with a two-year post-secondary degree and significant professional experience may apply for a VAPP in order to enroll in a master’s program.
